Wrapping up Tales of High Adventure #2

I'm just about to polish off the layouts for Tales of High Adventure #2!
This one features all new original stories of mystery, science fiction and fantasy.  Also the space-fantasty illustrated tale Homeworld continues here as well.

This is the cover as it is at this point.  It will be available as a printed digest as well as a digital Kindle and eBook.

I'll keep you all posted but I should have it sent off in a in a couple of weeks.

Tales Of High Adventure Now Available For Kindle

Earlier this year my colleagues and I put out in print what we hoped would be an on going series of pulp adventure stories called Tales Of High Adventure. The first issue contained reprints of some of our favorite pulp authors from Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft as well as new authors and comic stories.

Our hope was to continue the series with new authors and new stories.

Unfortunately, life always takes unexpected turns. Though we had put together most of the second issue we never quite finished it for publication.

During the summer we put out our Tales of High Adventure Radio Plays: Beneath the Ruined Tower of Zenopus. We hoped you enjoyed those and have some more in the works.

Well, as we finally get back together to tackle finishing up issue 2 of our Tales of High Adventure pulp magazine I've put together the original book for Kindle readers. Since there were a number of comic pages and illustrations I found the Kindle ebook format worked best for our publication.

So those with Kindles check out great pulp adventures with our Tales of High Adventure book now available on Kindle through Amazon.

The book is still available through ComiXpress in print format!

Tales of High Adventure: Preview

As we finish up the final layouts for the 1st issue of our pulp fantasy adventure magazine Tales of High Adventure we though we'd post a few preview pages to whet your appetite. Our goal was to mimic the old fashion pulp rags of the 30's and 40's as much as possible in terms of the look and feel of the publication, whether it be prose or graphic stories. And all in a nice digest format too!

Title page for Edgar Rice Burroughs' At The Earth's Core

Page 1 of the Science Fantasy adventure Homeworld by Paul J. Fini

Midnight Eagle by Mike Moran

The contents of the magazine how it is set now.

And if you haven't seen it yet, the fantastic cover by Clay Lewis!

The book should be sent off to the printer early next week and if all goes well should be available a couple of weeks after that, just in time for the gift giving season (hint, hint!).

I know I mentioned that I would be posting submission guidelines for issue 2 and beyond this week but I'm still working out some of the wording. Look for that next week!

Book of Wizardry & Book of the Divine

Role-playing game experience. Fully compatible with the fantasy Role-playing game Swords & Wizardry core rules. New from The Warlocks Home Brew!

Give your players this hands on Spell Book for their Spell-casting characters. Compiled from the existing spell descriptions in the classic-style fantasy RPG Swords & Wizardry Core Rules by Matt Finch.

But why stop with wizards? You don’t want your players casting spells of divine intervention to be left out? This book of divine spells are for Cleric or Druid characters. Also compiled from the existing spell descriptions in the fantasy RPG Swords & Wizardry Core Rules and Supplemental Lore by Skathros.

With a few modifications both of these books can be used with most old style fantasy RPGs.

Swords & Wizardry Quick Start Guide

Chgowiz of Old Guy RPG Blog has released a Quick Start guide for the Swords & Wizardry fantasy role-playing rules. It’s great for players and Gamemasters just strarting out with fantasy rpgs or players who are more use to the modern style of playing and want to delve into the classic, rules-lite seat of your pants style of playing where the genre took it’s roots. Why do I bring this up? Not only is it a great intro to the fantastic Swords & Wizardy rules, not only does it come with a thrilling starting adventure, but the back cover uses the Mummy Rot image for it’s back cover!

If you’re looking for a great introductory to a great game, check out The Swords & Wizardry Quick Start Guide!

The Outpost On The Edge of the Far Reaches

You may have been wondering what all this old-school fantasy art has been about. Well, it’s because IndieOnly is happy to introduce it’s new line of The Warlock’s Home Brew Fantasy Adventure rpg modules with the first release being “The Outpost On The Edge Of The Far Reaches“.

The elements of this adventure module have been left open enough to be adaptable with most old-school style fantasy role-playing game rules and worlds and should fit easily into any GM’s sandbox with but a few alterations and modifications.

The adventure module is available as a free download or a print on demand book from The Warlock’s Home Brew storefront at Lulu.com.

What glorious treasures and unspeakable dangers rest within this abandoned Outpost? Only the Bravest (or most foolhardy) may ever know.

Mummy Rot

I’ve decided to try to post more and since major releases are spread out over quite a bit of time, I’ll be posting some of my illustrations and other work. You can see I’ve kind of started doing that but I’ll try to keep up on a more regular basis. I’m going for a week to every other week.

So to keep up with the Dungeon Crawlers series, here’s one more to chill your bones.

This is another image used in the “In Search of the Forgotten City” (written by Robert Pinnell) old school adventure module based on the D&d rules written by Eric Holmes.

In Search of the Forgotten City

This is a cover illustration for a D&D adventure supplement “In Search Of The Forgotten City“. It is based on the ol’ Eric Holmes blue rule book (from way back in ‘79) and is a sequel to the Zenopus’ Tower adventure that was provided at the end of the rules. The ultimate old school classic! The adventure was written by Robert Pinnell with a couple of illustrations by yours truly. If you’re into old school classic D&D dungeon crawls this would be a must have! Get your copy at LULU
